The Opportunity

This role is hybrid, in office weekly in our CLT office with some remote work. This position is in IRM’s Credit Risk Team in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Credit Risk team within the IRM function is responsible for analytics and reporting that enable effective review and challenge of credit risk being taken in Ally Credit Card, including risks associated with the existing portfolio, loan originations, new product offerings, and changes in underwriting guidelines and credit risk policy. IRM maintains and implements Ally's risk management framework and independently oversees risk-taking activities, sets parameters representative of a strong risk culture that encourages an informed, measured, disciplined, and balanced approach to risk-taking and fair and honest treatment of customers, counterparties, and employees.

The Director of Credit Risk is responsible for providing an objective, critical assessment of risks and evaluation of whether Ally Credit Card Business Line remains aligned with its risk appetite and risk limits. The Director is also responsible for relationship management with the business line and will conduct complex analyses and in-depth credit risk related research of Ally's Credit Card portfolio. The analyses and research include reviewing and evaluating adherence to credit risk policies and procedures, credit decisioning methods used, developing and publishing credit risk related reporting on portfolio trends and measures, and drafting presentations to communicate conclusions to all levels of management.

The Work Itself

  • Independently identify, assess, measure, mitigate, control, monitor, test, report, and escalate risks, including aggregated risks across the Ally Credit Card.
  • Responsible for ensuring data validity, accuracy of deliverables while adhering to enterprise policies and procedures.
  • Support credible challenge of and advise of the Ally Credit Card Business Line with respect to the management of risks.
  • Set the criteria and independently test Business Line credit policy adherence and control effectiveness.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analytics and manage various other independent projects.
  • Support and execute a risk-based annual testing and monitoring plan; report on results and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Create monthly Monitoring and Testing reports for management.
  • Assess credit policy and procedural change requests from Underwriting and Servicing organizations.
  • Review and challenge BL credit policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Lead and follow up on issue management, ensuring timely completion and tracking of all issues.

The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in business related field
  • 7+ years relevant experience (e.g., underwriting, credit risk, testing, reporting, data analytics).

  • 1 + years experience with relational database concepts like SQL Server required, including 1+ years direct experience writing code.

  • 1+ years leadership experience managing people
  • Experience with business intelligence reporting tools such as SAS, Power BI.
  • Proven track record performing in-depth analysis and clearly reporting findings.
  • Proven track record of contributing to and leading projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite like Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and standard Enterprise systems.
  • Ability to provide advice/direction in primary areas of expertise.
  • Ability to support multiple assignments and stakeholders, self-prioritize workload and coordinate with direct reports and teammates to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to articulate complex problems in a simple manner.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise and relationships to contribute to strategy and drive business results.
  • General understanding of consumer Credit Card industry.
  • QA/QC, Audit, Modeling, Underwriting and/or Servicing experience preferred.

Base Pay Range:

Emerging: 125000

Experienced: 145000

Expert: 165000

Incentive Compensation: This position is eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan
